Sometimes I’m like a rate hitting the feeder bar on car auction websites.
Super Beetles were a little but longer and wider, had a curved windshield, and a more modern suspension than the original, however both models were available from 71-75, and the convertible to 1979.
I purchased this one knowing it might need some touch up- but it looked like a great deal and it was relatively close to me. Unfortunately “intermittent fuel leak from fuel filter” turned out to be 6 holes in the gas tank… and that is pretty much how the whole car was. It took the winter of 24’/25’ to fix the long list of issues. Fortunately- it is a classic beetle, so nothing is too technically challenging. Just a ton work. It also helps that almost every component of this car can be purchased from companies that specializes is air-cooled Volkswagen restoration. The Super BeetleConvertible was the last original German made Beetle to be sold in the US, ending in 1979. The original Beetles were however produced in Mexico and Brazil for other word markets all the way up to 2003.
