This is the car that put Mercedes on its heals, and launched a luxury car brand from Japan that could best the best. This was also the 1st "nice" car I ever owned. Not this one exactly, but one exactly like this one. I looked at three cars that day- the Mercedes dealer scoffed at my desire for a glass sunroof... "the Germans use only metal" they said. At BMW they were no better, berating my ask for cupholders. But the Lexus- it had BOTH, looked modern, and cost less. The LS400 set completely new benchmarks for the industry- even the engine was so well balanced and smooth it was certified for use by the FAA in some small aircraft. I owned it for 11 years- with one single repair. I was a dunce to sell it, but that was the deal for me to get a Corvette. About 5 years ago I passively started to search for one, but it was never really a priority. Then recently I noticed a couple go across auctions- and came to realize that it had reached collector status for its importance to the auto industry, and prices were going up. I found this one in the fall of '20. It was a bit rougher than I would normally pursue- however it made a great winter project and I've returned it to about 91% of looking new. It's fun to have the car of my 20s back- and the car has certainly aged better than me. * Most are stock pictures- I'll update this in Spring of 21 with new pics.
