This car has come full circle in my life from being the hottest thing on the road when they came out in 1989, to being derided as too feminine (I'll qualify that to be the prevailing opinion of car guys in the 00's), to club racers, and now real collector items for the few that are not trashed. Small roadsters had left the building in the 80's- but this car saved them and brought them back. Not a lot of power, but it didn't need it as it only weighed 2116 lbs. There is a particular kind of fun that can only come in a small package, and it would be impossible to build this car today with current regulatory standards. It is an engaging car to drive today- even against modern challengers. The trick for me has to been to find one that someone kept original and well cared for. This car was loaded- power windows, leather seats, A/C! Most actually did not have that stuff- and a manual transmission was a must have. Back in the early 90's when I went to test drive one of these, I really didn't know how to drive a manual- and my younger sister didn't really even know how to drive, but between the two of us we enjoyed a good half hour of trying to learn how! I feel bad for the person who bought that car...
