Not to be confused with the Beetle, or Super Beetle, or Beetle (that came out in 2012)- the New Beetle marked the return the Bug after nearly a 20 year hiatus in the US. This time the engine was in the front and it was actually built on the VW Golf platform. The car was wildly successful for the 1st few years on the market- capturing the nostalgia factor for the1960's and 70's crowd that missed the original... even though the original was still built in Brazil and Mexico up until 2003, but you could not buy those in the US. What makes this particular car so unique is that it was a one owner car- with about 4,000 miles on it. This probably makes it one of the lowest mileage examples in the world that is not in a museum. The car had a personalized license plate of "DAISEY" that came along with those custom wheels. I gifted one of those plates back to the original owners- a very sweet couple that invited me into their home for a visit and treated me like I was an old friend.
