This is one of the quintessential name plates of the greatest motorcars to come from across the pond. It is also the James Bond car from Die Another Day that marked the return of an Aston for 007. The Vanquish was hand built from 2001 to 2007 as the last car made in the original Newport Pagnell factory that also turned out the classic James Bond DB5. Hand built- as in workers in aprons hand finishing everything- even the metal body panels. Each car took two months to build, and in very small numbers. Aston built it to compete against the Ferrari 575- with huge advancements in carbon fiber and composite construction (revolutionary 20 years ago). It is still considered so important to the legacy of the company, there are a number of programs owners can choose to have done (you have to send your car back to England 1st) such as modify- to a later "S" model, or converted to a factory manual transmission, and the "Vanquish 25" by the original designer Ian Callum. They will retrofit with a new interior, electronics, and other mechanical bits to completely modernize a 20 year old car- for a mere $600,000... and that does not include your donor car. I plan not to do any of that, but I do plan to pretend to be James bond- hoping the car hides that I'm maybe 100lbs heavier.
