Here is another in the love it or hate it category- but either way, it is amazing this truck ever came to life. Back in the late 90's into the 00's- the Big 3 all came out with their retro cars- starting with the Plymouth Prowler, then the Ford Thunderbird, and finally this Chevy SSR. The concept car was revealed in 2000 as a tribute to the Chevy trucks from 1947 to 1955- however like the Prowler, no one expected GM to produce it... and then they did. They probably should not have as they were already in financial trouble, leading up to bankruptcy just a few years later. The truck is an amalgamation of a few other vehicles- including a frame from a Trailblazer, engine and transmission from a corvette, and convertible top from Mercedes. This is one of those cars that has a growing following as the march toward electrification goes on and old school hot rods are moving into history. There were just over 2000 of the SSR's that came with the 6 liter Corvette engine and a manual transmission, and I don't think anything like this will be made again. That's enough check marks to add it to the collection.
