410,000 miles and climbing! That is approaching driving to the moon and back! This car came from a close family friend who finally bought a new one and didn't want to take on a potentially $2k repair- but thought I might be able to fix it. I did...for about $80 in parts. It is in absolutely amazing condition- better than most cars with 1/4 the age and mileage. It should be- it came with a 6 inch pile of maintenance and repair records, all from Lexus. This brings up an important point of car ownership- A car is a machine. It is made out of metal, plastic, glass, electronics, and rubber. Machines last as long as we want them too. We get tired of them, want new buttons and features, they go out of style, etc, etc- so we stop taking care of them or trade them in for a shiny new one. However- the cheapest car is the one you own, and you can keep it as long as you want to. Another fact about this car- it has used about 16,000 gallons of gas. As a Hybrid, that is about 4,200 gallons less than its regular gas only RX330 counterpart. That is a savings of about $15,000. The car cost about $10k more new than the gas version- so the hybrid system paid for itself.
