Sometimes I buy cars twice, or even more. I used to own a 2011 green Challenger and loved it. Then a shiny red car was dangled in front of me and I had to choose- and I have missed my Challenger since. Now in 2024, I had to act quickly if I was ever going to buy a new one. Stellantis (formerly Fiat, formerly Cerberus, formerly Daimler Benz, formerly Chrysler) made the decision in 2022 that the Challenger would be done in 2023 to make room for an electrified replacement. That makes this Challenger one of the "Last Call" gas engine retro/muscle cars from Dodge. A couple caveats: this particular car is the 3.6L V6 AWD variant- so its got all the looks, super practical 4WD for Minnesota, and reasonably good fuel economy- but not really a Muscle car. My Friend owns the Hemi V8 version of one of these- so I'll reserve that title for his. 2nd- there has been significant retraction in the auto industry at the beginning of 2024 for moving full forward on EV. I personally am a proponent of plug-in Hybrid. You get some EV, you get energy recovery from braking, and unlimited range- especially during cold winter months when batteries have a hard time. EV's will rule one day and they're acceleration can't be matched- but battery technology really needs some breakthroughs to get there. It will. Until then, I'll enjoy the sounds and visceral feeling only an ICE car will give you.
